Attendance

Our district and our school receive funds through the attendance of students in our schools.  It is because of the importance of this source of revenue that our district and school are continuing to work on improving our attendance numbers this year.

Last year at Browns Valley there were 7,603 absences.  These absences were days for which the state did not pay our district.  Students need to be here each day for the school to get revenue. This came out to approximately $292,715.00 lost to the district from our school alone.  The figures are amazing.

It is because of these rising figures that we at Browns Valley are going to work very diligently this year to lower those numbers.  I will be giving a monthly update in the newsletter and we will be giving students monthly acknowledgements for perfect attendance.

Capital Program Management, Inc. is sponsoring the iPod Shuffle give-aways this year for the Vacaville Unified School District.  You must attend school every day to enter a monthly drawing for the iPod.  The principal of each school will draw one name per month from all the students who had perfect attendance.  In addition each school will draw an additional four names for other prizes, which will be provided by the school.  That's a total of five prizes per month, just for perfect attendance!

Between 7/31 and 8/25 we had 584 absences.  The district is paid about $40 for each student for every day that they are present.  That already comes out to a loss of $23,360.

On the positive side we had  449   STUDENTS WITH PERFECT ATTENDANCE.  Good for them and for you.

The money aspect of these figures may be important but the fact that students missed out on 584 days of learning is even more of a concern.   Please work with us to improve these figures.
